Does B&Q sell good soldering irons?

Last verified 9 August 2026

B&Q's range is mostly own-brand bundled "kit" sets rather than named-brand irons — an 80W adjustable kit around £12.59, a 130W digital kit around £59.99, and a basic 40W corded iron around £17.39 were among the listed options at time of writing. That covers casual, occasional use at a low price, but none of these carry the published, independently checkable specs (exact temperature range, tip compatibility) that a dedicated electronics brand does.

B&Q is a reasonable choice if you need a basic iron same-day from a general DIY store and won't be soldering often. For regular hobby or electronics use where temperature stability and tip availability matter over time, a known brand with a proper spec sheet is the safer buy — see our best soldering iron kits UK guide for what to look for instead of a bundled box set.
